Sponsor a child

Sponsoring a child is a direct and personal way to make a difference to their life. In most cases, the child would not be able to attend school without the help of their sponsor.

Everything we do at VolunteerUganda.org has two aims - to make a difference today and to take one more step towards sustainable transformation of a community. And education is at the heart of what is needed to allow the people of rural Uganda to attain their potential.

Your sponsorship will go to a specific child and you will be given their name and progress reports - even letters from the child from time to time. Please don't expect an instant response because things take a little longer than they would here.

The sponsorship money will go towards the child's school fees, lunches (if selected) and family health programme. The child's family still has to make a contribution towards the fees because we believe this is important.

Our regular visitors to Uganda comment on the difference in the whole community between villages with sponsored schools and villages that have to rely on the local resources.

The sponsorship options are:

£75 per year to sponsor a child (living close enough to have lunch at home)
£150 per year to sponsor a child (including lunch at school)

Make a donation

Making a donation is the simplest thing you can do to help. There is no long-term commitment (but you can always visit the site another time and make another gift!)

What so many of us love is to see the fast and practical results of our donations. A few years ago a truck was needed to transport people and goods around...we raised some cash and a few months later saw the photographs of the truck and the stories of the difference it was making. Another time, it was dormitories for children without parents...again we ran a campaign, raised some money and saw the results of our efforts.

Donating makes a real difference to people, and with VolunteerUganda.org we will tell you what is needed next and a few months later you will see how your gift has directly helped individuals now and made one more step to transforming a community.

The current project is building a secondary school. Here is how you can help:

£10 will pay for books and stationery for pupils
£50 will pay for classroom desks or blackboards
£500 will equip an entire classroom
£10,000 will build a classroom

We have purchased the land. We have the money to build 3 classrooms. The Highgate School sponsored walk raised enough for the next 3. So that leaves us 6 classrooms to build and 12 to equip.
