Volunteer Uganda is a group of organisations dedicated to tackling poverty in Uganda through sustainable education and enterprise development.

We work in rural south-western Uganda where families live in real poverty. Fertility exceeds 8 children per woman and over 90% of the population lives on less than 1 dollar a day.

  • Supporters across the UK, USA, Holland and Germany raise funds to build schools and sponsor children to attend them. We fund four Primary Schools, a new High School and are developing the local College into the only University in the region
  • Our volunteers bring much-needed skills to the area, teaching at local schools and running HIV/AIDS awareness events
  • We aim to make this development permanent and self-supporting with an integrated program including health, clean water, microfinance, job creation and enterprise development

Volunteer Uganda is making good education a reality for over 2,000 young people for whom it would otherwise have remained an impossible dream.

A fantastic amount has been achieved in the last ten years. With your help we can do more...

Volunteer Action

Do you have 6 or 12 weeks, perhaps in a gap year, university summer or work break?

Would you like to join a team of up to 40 young people teaching and helping in our related projects?

Our dedicated team will train and support you, enabling you to have the maximum impact.

Volunteer to take part in an experience that will change your life… and the lives of children in Uganda.

Education

Do you want to help change children's lives in Uganda?

Could you afford £15 per month to pay for a child's schooling, food and health provision?

Could you contribute to the cost of building a school classroom, laboratory or dormitory?

Maybe your school, church, youth group or village could twin with a Uganda school - it is great to see what can be achieved and how quickly it has an impact.
Development

Are you interested in making a difference in other ways?

Perhaps you could help establish a health clinic for the families in this deprived area of rural Africa?

Maybe you could help train or fund enterprising young people to set up small businesses - it is remarkable what an enormous difference a little help makes to the whole community.
